June 3 (Bloomberg) — Ed Rogers, chief executive officer of Rogers Investment Advisors YK, talks with Bloomberg’s Susan Li about Japanese Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama’s resignation and its implications for the nation’s economy and financial market. Hatoyama’s resignation came less than two months before mid-term elections, potentially hindering the Democratic Party of Japan’s efforts to reduce public debt. Imelda Marcos’ political comeback in the Philippines

The former Philippine first lady was known for her vast collection of shoes accumulated while her husband, Ferdinand Marcos, was in power. Since Marcos was ousted in the 1986 “people power” revolution, Imelda has faced several charges of embezzlement, corruption and tax evasion. But the 80-year-old is still influential in parts of the Philippines, and she is bidding for a congressional seat in this year’s election. Al Jazeera’s Veronica Pedrosa goes on a museum tour about the former first lady, conducted by Carlos Celdran. (May 9, 2010)

Iraq’s political campaign methods

It is election season in Iraq, on the 7th of March Iraqis will go to the polls and decide who will make up their next government. Iraq’s politicians want to be part of the new parliament but they are using a very old method of speaking to voters – the political poster. As a result, Baghdad’s printers and party activists are working around the clock. Omar al-Saleh reporting from Baghdad.

US ends political campaign spending limits

The US supreme court has issued a landmark ruling that will change the way US election campaigns are financed. By a 5 to 4 vote, the court lifted long-standing limits on corporate spending in political campaigns, opening the door for private entities to flood the political marketplace with corporate money. Al Jazeera’s John Terrett explains why it is likely to have an immediate effect on the upcoming Congressional elections in November.

A little over six weeks after Iran’s controversial presidential election, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad takes the oath of office to begin his second term as Iran’s president. His election victory has been endorsed by Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran’s Supreme leader. The opposition hotly disputed the election result calling it a fraud and demanding its annulment.
