The West is trying to demonize China. Why? To ensure an upper-handed position economically, politically, and socially.

Too many harbor strong opinions about Tibet, yet know nothing more than the few slogans offered by the mass-media outlets.
The media screams:
“They killed innocent monks!” - but those “innocent” monks and other young hooligans killed innocent Chinese before a single shot was fired on them.
“The Chinese are oppressive” - do you consider freeing over 95% of Tibetans from slavery, building a state of the art infrastructure, and a new economy oppressive?
“The Chinese suppress Tibetan Buddhism” - then why have the Chinese spent a fortune restoring ancient monasteries and places of religious significance?
China doesn’t SPIN NEWS like we do. Their silence is too often mistaken as admission of guilt. Don’t be another uninformed drone. Do everyone a favor and learn truths before forming opinions.
Here’s to Peace & Harmony! The 2008 Beijing Olympics deserve support!

Regardless of who had the most slaves 50 years ago… The Tibetan people do not want to be part of China. When you are defending China’s “right” to rule Tibet you are really defending China’s right to impose its control over tibet by force. The arguments about the history of tibet do not justify its occupation just as the pre-colonial histories of african countries did not justify their imperial conquestors.

your president bush was in beijing promoting communist china’s propaganda as well, what do you think?
There are more than 100 presidents, kings, prime ministers in china promoting communist propaganda, what do you think?

Shame on you Chris. Don’t you have any reputation to keep in Hollywood? Do you actually work in Hollywood or the only way to make money for you is by promoting Communist China’s propaganda?

2 reasons:
1, if he comes back with his hostile government, everybody in the current autonomous government must find other jobs.
2, DLLM proposed “great tibet” includes qinghai, tibet, sichuan, gansu, almost 1/3 of china is gone (luckily there aren’t many tibetan in beijing, otherwise beijing will be included), he required highly autonomy in great tibet.
those 2 factors are really not negociable.
if ccp dare to accept them, 1,3 billion chinese will overthrow ccp AND DLLM, just try it.

Where are you getting this information? If it is from the Chinese Government I don’t think you have a credable source. If the Dalai Lama had slaves the Democratic nation of India would have run him out long ago. Please start using your ability to think criticly.

will DLLM tell you about his life with 800 slaves? of course not!

Wrong, qing dynasty set up Ge Xia in Tibet on 1751, which means the government of Tibet, directly under the control of the qing emperor.

Writer Anne Meng:
“It would serve both foreign observers & the Chinese themselves well to recognize the difference between patriotism & nationalism.
In the past, the Chinese government has found the defensive quality in nationalism useful for deflecting foreign criticism & covering up problems in the country. This strategy is ultimately destabilizing because it has the potential to increase domestic social discontent & to damage China’s reputation abroad.”

Magnetuit,I said about the same as you that the polarizing upon the Dalai Lama is holding up things and China loves it.All stop talking about the Dalai Lama he had nothing near the influence that he’s getting now in the world as head of the Tibetans,he was not that so why now and why this brainwashing about it ? Why insist so much on it. Why not talk to the other chiefs of old Tibet and bring them back and make Tibet relive through bringing back the real scholars that lead it in the olden days .

So what is DDL? Is he a GOd or a politician? What is his religion?
At most time, I can only see him smile, never hear his preaching, does he has a religion. Love and peace, did he ever critize US invasion of Iraq?

The Idea behind Buddhism is one of peace and equality of all living creatures.Don’t sit there and tell me that people who would just as soon sit in one place and starve to death then kill a fly are going to violently oppress anyone.I think you are ProChina and would say anything to justify their illegal occupation of a sovereign nation. If you ever read a book by HH The Dalai Lama or heard him speak you would know what you are saying is bias to China because the Info you are getting is from China

Tibet was a tributary country of Qing. Tributary is just authorization system by money. Tributary countries of Qing self-governed each countries. Qing was most developed and powerful countnry in east asia. That is why countries in east asia must be authorised by Qing. In addition, Qing was empire of not Han chinese but Manchu. In this sense, Tibetans have right to self-govern tibet at least. They even have right to be indepent of current china, if they wish.

DLLM repeated many times that he doesn’t seek for independance, he just wants to go back to tibet simply as a monk.
reason? if he dies in india, his reincarnation will not be worshipped by tibetans, and he doesn’t have much time left.
so if you want him to die in india, just go ahead yelling for independance, just go ahead hating chinese and shugdens. I’m sure china will satisfy your wish and keep him out of the door.

Damn Tibet, the seemingly brutal occupation of that country is completely justified, and Ill tell you why. Tibet has weapons of mass destructions, yes that’s right I said it, its the truth, Chinese intellegience indicates Tibet acquired yellow cake or rice, forgot, from Nazi Germany and was in the midst of devloping nuclear missles fired from huge slingshots. Not just that but Tibetans mercislessy slaughter a herd of yaks just because they were ethnicly different, but mostly hungry. Free China??

Very interesting! What is this guy doing? Reading from the chinese “white Papers”? Tibet has NEVER been part of China! The only time they were “unwiling” partners was in 1206 when they were both under Mongol rule.
23 Anonymous // Aug 19, 2008 at 10:58 pm
Well Mao didn’t really behaved like a gentleman during the occupation of Tibet.
I would say before we chinese people accuse others for having feudal system and so on, we should first clean up our past by ourself.
It’s called accomplishment of the past.
The problem is we do not, our government CP makes it impossible for us. The germans did accomplish shortly after the nazzi regime. But many of us do not and also many russians do not. What can we lose if we start with that? Nothing
