Pele never said Banks was a world class goalkeeper. It’s just another example of that bullshit crap made up by the English press to brainwash the English fans into thinking that England is the world’s greatest footballing nation which produces the greatest players. Then again if there is actually proof of Pele saying that Banks was world class, I can guarantee you the English media paid him to say it in order to brainwash the English fans and public.

Of course youre going to think those English keepers were world class. The English football pundits/press make it their job to make sure they brainwash English football fans into thinking that England are the worlds footballing superpower which has always produced the greatest talent. The truth is that all keepers England has ever produced (including the ones you mentioned) have been poor/average in the opinion of non English football experts. Yashin, Zoff, Maier, Buffon. Those are world class!

Eh? Not going to get into a pathetic YT footie row (Most YT posters are retarded anyhow), but ‘Experts say England have always produced crap Keepers? Banks? Shilton? Seaman? Clemence? They are not ‘crap’. The current crop is poor by standards set, but not in the past.

I agree that Germany have been more consistent in major tournaments than Italy, have won more euros than Italy and reached the Finals of major tournaments more times than Italy. But then again I’d still say that Italy have a superior record to Germany because they’ve won more World Cups than Germany. The World Cup wins are the ones that TRULY count. Would you really choose to sacrifice 1 World Cup in exchange for more euros, major finals and better consistency? I certainly wouldnt.

My post was in jest. Seaman has made his share of howlers.

The fact was you needed to win and you couldn’t.

Barring a post you would have lost 1-0 at “Fortress Rome”.

Anyway we will see what happens at the 2010 WC.

Italy’’s chances look dim, given the side of the draw they are in, but you never know.

I would agree Italy have the better record.

But then again Germany have a better record that Italy.

And they are not a superior footballing nation. They just know how to put out a lot of better sides than they are.

Well, we’ll see what Italy have got at WC 2010, won’t we? Spain must be the absolute favorites.

England are superior to Italy? Is that why England have only ever won 1 World Cup, reached the World Cup Final only once and never won a Euro or reached a Euro Final whereas Italy have won 4 World Cups, featured in 6 World Cup Finals, won 1 Euro and appeared in 2 Euro Finals??????? And for all of England’s supposed blatant superiority over Italy is that why England had to go and hire an Italian coach to teach them how to play football properly? LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL!!!!!!!!!!!

lol only a moron would compare English keepers to Italian keepers. It’s a fact genuinely accepted worldwide by football experts that England have always produced crap keepers whereas Italian keepers have always been and will always be the best!!!!

    Italy – 4 World Cups, 6 Finals, 8? Semi-Finals
    England – 1 World Cup, 1 Final, 2 Semi-Finals

Italian football is superior to English football.

really? england has beaten germany and argentina in the last two competative matches they have played.italy is good but its a typically ignorant italian remark to say that they would destroy england.i would imagine it would be a close game in which either side could win, that is a realitic take on the matter. here in canada, i would love to see england beat italy, i would drive around all day waving the st.george flag in all italian’s faces just like they do to everyone else when they win.

‘unexpectable’ is not a word, but i typed in ‘unexceptable’ i spelt it wrong (should be ‘unacceptable’) but yes, it is indeed a word. Italian corruption and English corruption r not even comparable. how can u argue that the 66 goal wasn’t a goal? just go watch the replays right here on youtube, someone even took the time to pause when the ball hit the top bar(half over the line, which is a goal) and when it touched down with over 50% of the ball over the goal line (which is a goal).

Is unexpectable even a word? In any case, a conscious choice is made in England to not investigate corruption because of the damage a scandal would do to the game. Remember all the talk about illegal transfers and bungs the last few years? The FA purposely obstructed the government’s investigations and refused to initiate their own. And dude, EVERYONE, except for maybe Sun readers and morons in general, questions the legitimacy of that third goal. I don’t hate England, I just hate xenophobes.

@IAMCANADIAN1998 Are you kidding me?? go back and watch the replay, u can see from several angles that it went over the line!! are you fucked?! it is an issue that isn’t even in contention. Maradona’s hand of god, we all know what happened there…but noone argues that the third goal in 66 wasn’t legit, ur right out to lunch. in no way shape or form is English football fixed, that would be unexceptable. coming from an Italy fan, that is an outrageous thing to say.

@MrSayitagain i agree, after Hoddle, England went through a string of ineffectual coaches. Its to bad he had to be stupid and makes those remarks. I remember hearing that he got canned and thinking that it was a bad day for England….all these years later and they are still licking thier wounds from that day. How come Alex Ferguson never went for England coach? Or Martin Oneill?
